Introducing the Lunettes Kollektion: For the past five years, Lunettes stores in Berlin have been selling the finest unworn 20th Century vintage eyewear, coveted by the fashion avant-garde and inspiration for collectors and designers alike. Now we have launched our own line, the LUNETTES KOLLEKTION. The collection is influenced by the forms and designs of vintage frames, adding contemporary twists inspired by the urban subculture that defines Berlin style. The brand stands for quality and design; tradition with a hint of the avant-garde.
Berlin avant-garde meets tradition: Lunettes is all about the details
The LUNETTES KOLLEKTION stands for timeless and vintage-inspired eyewear with modern twists, honoring traditional European craftsmanship. All our frames are produced exclusively by small Austrian and Italian manufacturers, using time-honored methods of frame production.
The frames in the LUNETTES KOLLEKTION are created and named according to a clear concept. The model ZEITGEIST, for example, brings back the roaring 20’s – an era that stood for frivolity, esprit, and tremendous upheaval and change in politics, fashion, the arts… Marlene Dietrich and nights spent dancing the Charleston. The era has a lot in common with modern Berlin. ZEITGEIST captures the dandyish style of the decade and is a unisex model that can be worn by men and women.
The exclusive cases made to accompany the LUNETTES KOLLEKTION frames are treasures themselves. Inspired by soap and chocolate boxes of the twenties. Aware of minimizing our carbon footprint and supporting the community, Lunettes uses small local firms like the Berlin bookbinder Ernst Ließ, est. 1869, who make the cases by hand.
First Prize in EOY 2011 in Tokyo, Men's Frames Category: LUNETTES KOLLEKTION – Model ARTSY-FARTSY
The winning design, ARTSY-FARTSY is a self-deprecating, ironic homage to Berlin's new cosmopolitan creative and fashion scene and was created for the typical customer at Lunettes. ARTSY-FARTSY references design icons of the 50s and 60s and plays with the cliché of an artist wearing heavy, distinctive black glasses that are always slightly too large. The frames go well with soft cashmere, cool linen and especially with fine wit and a sly wink.
