DIANA ORVING is a Swedish based fashion brand and has been a women’s wear label since the year of 2000. This completely autodidact designer started selling one-off garments at the age of fifteen and the first whole collection was successfully launched in the spring of 2007. Since then the collections have been presented at national and international fashion shows and exhibitions.
DIANA ORVING has a distinctive design, which is characterized by layers, volume and draped fabrics. Working with textiles and colours with different structures, lustre and transparency creates the unique silhouettes in the garments. The garments are often made with possible different ways of wearing it, and each style change shapes depending on the carrier.
Art, dance and movements inspire the DIANA ORVING collections. The garments are creatively made to experiment and explore the power and meaning of clothing and fashion.
Dianas Orvings point of departure is people, their bodies and their movements. She draws inspiration from personal stories, expressed in the way that all people stage their persona whether they have formulated an interest in fashion or not. Diana states that it is important to recognize the differences between women as well as the appearance of the female body.
The method of creating directly on living bodies rather than on paper is essential for Diana. Encouraging movement both by the body but also of the garment itself, every piece should ask for altering. Often using drapings the result can never be directly cut out or even closely for-seen. Instead it is a paradoxical process of constantly improvising and following the fabrics own characteristics, while searching for ways to move the method of draping outside the solitary confinement of haute couture.
DIANA ORVING is now being sold in selected stores in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, United States, Italy, Canada, Russia, Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan and Korea.
